Coverage & Limits
Renter’s insurance helps to financially protect you and your possessions from loss. Roommates each should have their own renter’s insurance coverage. There are good reasons for this. Unrelated individuals typically do not have coverage under the policy. If you add a roommate to your policy, their claims history typically goes on your record. Adding someone to your policy gives them certain rights to change or modify the policy. Plus, if they leave the apartment before the policy is due for renewal, you may be responsible for paying the monthly premium.
